In the case of conservation, protection against corrosion, weathering and the presence of harmful substances, prevention is better than cure. In our big air-conditioned conservation hangar, measuring 40 x 15 metres and with an 8-metre high ceiling, practically every construction can be blasted, safeguarded and metallised. |

VDS builds all kinds of constructions from SS and aluminium. These constructions are built in a separate area. Our welders are all in possessions of the necessary welding certificates and have knowledge which extends from art to engineered constructions. The conservation of SS and aluminium is also part of what we can offer. |

Bridges, fenders and lock gates have high quality requirements. VDS often builds these constructions on a design and construct basis. Our strength lies in thinking ideas through at the highest level and carrying them out with the highest of standards. Coupled with these activities, VDS has developed a maintenance and conservation programme with a variety of applications. All our constructions are, of course, fully certified. |

VDS is not only occupied with manufacturing and assembly. The design and development of new machines, and the maintenance and overhaul of existing machinery are areas in which VDS excel. Designing, drawing and calculation take place in our own engineering department. A department with a high problem-solving capability which fully meets the requirements and wishes of the client. Examples of machinery designed and developed by VDS are machines for aluminium foundries, welding lines, transportation systems and centrifuges for plastics production. |

Further, VDS works as sub-contractor for several renowned shipyards. Thanks to our mobile workshop and 24-hour service, repairs can be carried out on site. |

VDS has sufficient opportunities for ship repairs on the wharf at VDS but also on location in the ports of Rotterdam, Antwerp, Ghent and Flushing. We have our mobile workshop in a 40 ft container, which can be put on board if desired. For ship repairs involving steel, hydraulics, pneumatics and engines, we have the knowledge in-house. We at VDS can provide you with a 24 hours a day, seven days a week service. |

Also in the field of offshore work, VDS has the necessary knowledge and skills Large structures of up to 275,000 kilograms have already been built, welded and conserved. There are ample opportunities for RORO and load-out by our own quay cranes. Our welders are in possession of welding certificates for all offshore disciplines. |

VDS also uses Polyurea Coating now. Polyurea is a special technique which can be used for any applications whatsoever – the possibilities are only limited by the bounds of your own imagination. The coating is used in many sectors of industry and is characterised by its unique, strong, damage-resistant layer. The seamless membrane is several mm thick and gives a guaranteed prolonged protection against various weather conditions, chemicals and other environmental factors. |
