Volker Staal en Funderingen sells steel activities to VDS Rotterdam BV.
Acquisition invigorates VDS’s growth ambition in the Rotterdam region
Volker Staal en Funderingen (VSF) has sold her steel activities to VDS Rotterdam (VDS), which is part of the VDS Group. VSF employs approximately 140 professionals, of which 32 steel- and construction employees will join VDS. The people working on the foundations scope of VSF will not be transferred. The foundation activities will continue under the present name; Volker Staal en Funderingen. The agreement was signed on the 28th of June 2018.
VDS has the ambition to establish a strong position in the Rotterdam area. The company is undergoing a stable growth over the last few years. “To facilitate that growth, a company has to keep innovating and investing”, says VDS CEO Robert van der Loos. According Van der Loos, the acquisition leads to an improvement in market position, services, expertise and product portfolio.

VDS was established in 1981 and develops and constructs steel- and aluminium constructions and machines. Over the past few years, a solid company was built with over 80 FTE and 120 flexible employees. Offshore constructions, modules, jackets, civil constructions, certified welding, blasting and coating, bridges, shipbuilding and ship repair are the main specialisations. VDS has 160,000m2 of deepsea facilities in Flushing, Rotterdam and Eemshaven.
